Can my uncle, who is a caterer, do the catering for my wedding?
Do we pay a corkage fee for everyone at our wedding if we are having a bar?
-
Can I bring round tables into the hall instead of using the rectangle tables provided?
Why does everything have to be out of the hall at the end of the event?
Our group is a charity trying to raise money. Will Matsqui Hall give us a cut rate on the rent?
Q: How much is the hall to rent?
A: There are different rates for different days of the week and amount of time the hall is required. Do fill out a contact form with details of your event for a quote.
Q: Why do I have to have a Special Occasion License?
A: Provincial government regulations for alcohol require the host (or renter) to obtain this license.
Q: Can my uncle, who is a caterer, do the catering for my wedding?
A: Sorry, no. Matsqui Hall has an agreement with 3 professional caterers that allows one of them to do the catering for any event at this hall. These caterers are all excellent to work with and have a variety of menus to suit many budgets.
Q: Do we pay a corkage fee for everyone at our wedding if we are having a bar?
A: Yes, the corkage fee is charged for each head in attendance including children. The bar includes pop and juices which everyone has full access to even if they aren't drinking alcohol.
Q: How are the tables and chairs arranged for my event?
A: You tell us how you want the layout to be and we will help set it up for you.
Q: Can I bring round tables into the hall instead of using the rectangle tables provided?
A: Yes, most certainly. The round tables may be brought in the day before your event but must be taken out at the end of your event, that evening. If you are renting them, this may require paying extra to have the rental company pick them up late at night.
Q: Why does everything have to be out of the hall at the end of the event?
A: There are other groups that use the hall every day, Sundays especially, so the hall must be ready for them to use.
Q: What time does the event have to end by?
A: Generally events should finish no later than 1 a.m.
Q: Our group is a charity trying to raise money. Will Matsqui Hall give us a cut rate on the rent?
A: Sorry, but no. We understand the challenges of trying to fundraise as Matsqui Hall is operated by a not for profit association. Hall maintenance and upkeep is paid for through rentals and fundraising and the rent we charge is very competitive.
